Most people don’t pay much attention to their cholesterol until the doctor asks to check it. In turn, it results in having an exclusively negative view of cholesterol levels without having taken small, simple actions that will reinforce our health. But there is a good side to all this as well, and for the month of September, She Makes Delicious will be in the business of reeducation.
According to the American Heart Association, 50,000 African American women die from cardiovascular diseases annually. Of those who are 20 and older, 49 percent have heart diseases. Many women aren’t aware of the history of high blood pressure that exists in their family.
Chef Nina, owner of She Makes Delicious, believes everyone can take simple steps toward healthier cholesterol starting with learning how to prepare heart-healthy meals. She doesn’t mince words when she explains why this is a passion for her. “I’m tired of Black people eating everything and dying from heart disease. Simple changes can be made to make our lives healthier.”
During this month, join Chef Nina as she breaks down the good, the bad, and the ugly of cholesterol, and how to reinvent yourself in the kitchen while still keeping meals packed with flavor.
